Auctioneers Note: A&M Auctions is proud to offer the estate of World Famous Cartoonist and Illustrator Bob Clarke. Born in New York in 1926 by the age of 15 Bob was already an accredited artist. Clarke started at MAD magazine in 1956 where he drew cover boy Alfred E. Neuman and features like Spy Vs Spy. Editors said his legacy was “massive.” Bob was one of the magazine’s most versatile artists, illustrating everything from covers, to articles, to Spy vs. Spy, to bonus inserts for MAD Specials (including the MAD Zeppelin paper model and the MAD mobile). Clarke’s style in MAD was distinctive, showing a mastery of line and an eye for the humorous side of things. In his first year at MAD, Clarke illustrated 24 separate articles; he would eventually draw more than 600. Clarke was a mainstay of the magazine as it rose in circulation, being one of four general-purpose artists who took MAD through the late 1950s and early 1960s. Perhaps Clarkes most notable creation is the label of Cutty Sark Whiskey which was his own original design. This sale is packed full of more than 500 original artworks, sketches, and drawings from the desk of Bob Clarke, including many private never before seen characters and paintings. This sale is a complete liquidation of the artwork legacy of Bob Clarke. Selling everything right down to the entire contents of his art studio. Don’t miss this opportunity to be to be one of the last to own a piece of Bob Clarke’s legacy.    Please view the online catalog with more than 1,700 photos at AMauctions.com.
