Auctioneers Note: From period furniture, 19th Century Artwork & Billiards table to a 22’ Center console boat this sale is sure to have something for everyone. This Auction features items from the Estate of John Andrews Upshur of Greenbush, VA. John who is related to Abel Parker Upshur who was Appointed Secretary of the Navy in 1841 & Secretary of State in 1843 by John Tyler the 10th President of the United States. On the 28th of Feb. 28, 1844, while with President Tyler and many other dignitaries on a Potomac River demonstration cruise on board the steamship USS Princeton, Secretary Upshur and several others were killed when one of the ship’s guns exploded.

Online Bidding: This is an Live Auction held at the Allen & Marshall facility with Online Absentee Bidding. If you can’t attend the auction you can leave Absentee Bids via our online bidding platform. If for example you wish to bid on a Madison Mitchell Decoy you can create and account and leave a bid on that item. You have the option of placing a starting bid and a maximum bid. If the current bid is $100 you could bid $110. Then someone comes along and bids $120 and you are out. If you place a Maximum bid of, say $500, the computer will only put you in for the next bid amount. It will then bid for you up to your maximum or below if the competitive bidding ceased below your high bid amount.
