Directions: Our Auction Facility is located in Parsonsburg on the Eastern Shore of Maryland Approx. 100 Miles north of Norfolk, VA, 55 Miles South of Dover, DE, 100 East of Washington, DC and 18 miles West of Ocean City, MD. At the intersection of Rt. 50 and the Rt. 13 Bypass merge onto Rt. 50 East towards Ocean City and follow for 3.9 miles to the intersection of Rt. 50 & Forest Grove Rd. Turn North (left) onto Forest Grove Rd. and follow for 0.5 miles to Old Ocean City Rd. Right onto Old O. C. Rd. and follow for 1.2 miles to Esham Rd. Left onto Esham Rd. and follow for 1.2 miles to burgundy/tan building on left. Signs Posted.

Auctioneer’s Note:    Robert “Bob” Withey passed away in the summer of 2003 however his legacy has flourished here on the Eastern Shore. Mr. Withey went to work at Benjamins from 1941 to 1943, becoming the first interior designer on the shore with a college degree. He resumed his career at Benjamins after his military duty from 1946 to 1953. He then owned and operated Robt Withey Interiors from 1953 to 1979, retiring in 1994. His business was then carried on by his son, Robert. He was a staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving with the 83rd Infantry Division during the European Theatre. He received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Wicomico Historical Society, the Somerset County Historical Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He was involved with the restoration and furnishing of Teackle Mansion in Princess Anne. He was a honorary lifetime member of friends of Poplar Hill Mansion, Inc. He purchased the property known as Bounds Lott in 1966, the supposed birth place of Samuel Chase, MD. Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Mr. Withey restored the home making it his residence from 1978 to 2000. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mr. Withey gave a number of regional 18th century antiques to the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Winston Salem, NC. Including the Almodington Bench. Much of Mr. Withey’s work can still be seen in various Historical Homes and prominent estates here on the Eastern Shore.
